Ethos Statement

Beechcroft Infants School is a caring, inclusive community where every child feels safe, valued, and that they truly belong. Our ethos is rooted in kindness, respect, and trust, with emotional wellbeing and positive relationships at the heart of learning. We celebrate individuality, nurture curiosity, and encourage resilience so every child can thrive.

Vision Statement

At Beechcroft Infants School, we aspire to nurture happy, confident learners who believe in themselves and their future. Through a love of learning, strong foundations in reading, and rich experiences, we prepare every child to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally — growing hearts, shaping minds, inspiring futures.

Our Values

Values are the things we believe are very important.
At Beechcroft, we talk about our values in assemblies and in class.  We believe that school should be a happy place for all

Here is how we show some of our important values

  • We show kindness by helping, sharing and caring for others
  • We show thankfulness by saying thank you and noticing kind things
  • We show friendship by playing kindly and looking after each other
  • We show resilience by not giving up even when things are tricky
  • We show courage by trying our best, even when we feel nervous
  • We show forgiveness to others and say sorry when we’ve made a mistake
  • We show honesty by telling the truth
  • We show respect by listening, helping others, and looking after our school

These values are embedded within our school rules:
Ready, Respectful and Safe

Curriculum Vision

At Beechcroft Infants School, our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and nurture every child’s growth in heart, mind, and spirit. We believe learning should be engaging, meaningful, and progressive—where children make choices, take part, and feel proud of what they achieve. Our approach reflects the diversity of our community and ensures inclusion for all, meeting every child’s needs while challenging them to think deeply and critically.

We prioritise emotional wellbeing as the foundation for learning, teaching resilience, confidence, and positive behaviours alongside essential knowledge and skills. Strong foundations in spoken language, vocabulary, and communication underpin everything we do, with oracy and reading at the heart of our curriculum. Through phonics, fluency, and a love of books, we open doors to lifelong learning.

Our curriculum is enriched with hands-on experiences and opportunities to explore the wider world through trips and visitors. While some year groups enjoy outdoor learning, others focus on multi-sensory approaches to engage and inspire. We celebrate individuality, promote British values, and foster kindness, respect, and cooperation. Working in partnership with families, we ensure children are engaged, supported, and ready to succeed. By the time they leave us, our children are happy, confident learners who believe in themselves and their future.

School Discipline:

The behaviour of the children is central to the success of the School. Children are encouraged to behave themselves in a caring and considerate way.  We actively encourage the children to use the Zones of Regulation to identify how they are feeling in the moment according to their emotions as well as guide them to strategies to support regulation.

They are encouraged to respect the rights of others and take care of the buildings and equipment. Ultimately we want children to develop initiative and responsibility for their own behaviour.

The school has a written policy on behaviour which parents may request to see. The emphasis being always on "praise for positive behaviour" rather than on the more negative "punishment for poor behaviour".

Rewards and Recognition:

As a school we believe in praise for positive behaviour and to recognise this we have a reward system for individuals, classes and the school as a whole.

Children are rewarded in class by verbal praise, stickers, a brick on the wall of fame and `Golden Time'. Stickers are also awarded by the Headteacher and are very sought after!

A Golden Book is kept where names of individual children are recorded by their class teachers for their achievements, being kind to others or showing responsibility in other ways.

Children who display 'Over and Above' behaviour are invited to Hot Chocolate with the Headteacher.

At Beechcroft Infants we ensure through our school vision, ethos, agreed rules, curriculum and  teaching that we promote British Values as directed.

'ensure that they and the school promote tolerance of and respect for people of all faiths (or those of no faith), cultures and lifestyles: and support and help, through their word, actions and influence within the school and more widely in the community, to prepare children and young people positively for life in modern Britain'
